Vessels Project 2

So I have spent my Sunday making paper models of some ideas I have for the Vessels project. I now know why I did not choose Architecture or Interior Design and stuck with Jewellery. I spent an hour and a half refreshing my memory with Nets, it has been 5 years, so it took a lot of frustration and patience. Anyway I got there eventually and have made up some ideas, I am still stuck on what I want to do. I don't know if I want to make a series of vessels that will make up a group of different ideas that will then hopefully resemble a city sky line.... If not that a bigger Vessel, which looks at the Geometric shapes of buildings and the different textures.

I have a tutorial with Teena tomorrow, so hopefully I'll have more of an idea by tomorrow night and I can make a start on the final design! I'm looking forward to eventually making something. I will kick myself for saying this later.

Vessels Project 1.

End of Week Three as a Jewellery student, I think I am starting to get the hang of it and realising it's not just about earrings and necklaces. "Contemporary sculpture/metalwork" . Next week I need to have some paper examples of my final design ideas, which is to help me with my planning etcetc. I've taken some pictures of my samples that i plan on using for my final, hopefully this time next week I have some pictures of my attempt at making them. I also have some design ideas for my skecthbook I'll throw in for a swatch, hopefully you like!

The on going question of what the man said....

OK, Radiohead- Just played on my Ipod today... and i remembered the weird video they made for it and the on going mystery of what the man said. Sad person that I am, watched it again and it ends with everybody lying on the ground after the man told them why he was there. I guess this is the artists playing with us... we end up leading our self to our own downfall by our everlasting curiosity, which is us being human. The video is based around the subtitles, I get the impression Radiohead are mocking us.... They know how we react and play on that, making the video 'play with our mind'. Everyone has different answers and theories for it but really there are some this we just shouldn't know.

You do it to yourself, you do
and that's what really hurts
You do it to yourself, just you
you and no-one else

Its actually a pretty good video if you think about it, we remember it because it made us curious and we will never know what really did happen or if anything was said. People will talk about it and then others will look it up and most likely you have watched it out of curiosity now. Does this tie in with The Tipping Point?

I think my head has exploded with this. Watch it anyway!

V&A Museum Dundee 2014.. yes please.

Just read about the new Museum project for Dundee's waterfront to be built in 2014.
120+ firms applied designs for the landmark building and has been  shortlisted to 6 designs.

"It is suggested that the Dundee version of the V&A could be housed in a new £42m building, as part of the city's waterfront development.
It could create 900 jobs in the wider economy.

The V&A in London is regarded as the world's premier museum for art and design. The business plan suggested the Dundee museum could feature local strengths in illustration, comics, animation, interactive media and computer gaming."

If all goes to plan, this building will be amazing for us 'newly graduated designers'. Maybe not Jewellery, no harm in trying tho, eh?

The last design reminds me of a Rene Magritte painting.

Life of a Sloth.

I had a dream last night that humans were Sloths. Creepy, yet amazing. They have 2/3 fingers, moving 2m per min- I think that's right-. Spending the majority of there days hanging upside down from a tree eating and sleeping. Sounds boring but a pretty sweet arrangement.

They are amazing, I want one, Christmas present anyone? I looked them up out of interest, to see if they were just in fact just lazy mammals. But no, It's all to do with metabolism. They have two compartments in there stomachs because there metabolism cant digest the food intake as fast as other mammals, it takes at least a month to digest. Thus resulting in them having little energy to move. Leaves, there main food source cannot provide the energy and nutrition they need to live in tropical Forrest's, sloths deal with this by body temperature. They now have a good excuse to be lazy...unlike us students.

Looking back at the picture, it does look like he is smiling, maybe a sloths life would be sweet.
